Sub-board members assist the Board of Directors in developing programming and supporting operations. Join one to be involved in key decisions and planning core events.


Academic Programming

Coffee Chat with Dean Edelstein, January 2026

The Academic Programming Sub-Board creates opportunities for Georgetown students to engage with international relations outside of the classroom. In recent semesters, Sub-Board members have organized coffee chats with professors and site visits to Embassies and the UN. Sub-board members are encouraged to use Academic Programming as a platform to explore their interests and create cross-cultural and interdisciplinary connections.

Alumni Outreach

Visit to the UN Information Center, Spring 2025

The Director of Alumni Outreach leads professional development and alumni relations within the club. The Outreach Sub-Board organizes alumni dinners, mentorship “families,” career panels, workplace visits, and collaborations with external organizations. Each year, the Alumni Outreach Sub-Board works to strengthen the connection between graduates and current students, buildings the IRC community across class years. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in meeting cool alumni!

Chief of Staff

IRC Formal, May 2024

The Chief of Staff Sub-Board assists other Sub-Boards in planning events and ensuring smooth execution with a focus on collaboration. The Sub-Board also organizes general body meetings, seasonal holiday special events, and the IRC formal. It aids the Chief of Staff in thier mission is to promote club cohesion and build a fun IRC community.

Communciations

NCSC LIII, November 2025

The Communications Sub-Board publicizes IRC events and centralizes information about career development opportunities in the IR field. Sub-Board members manage the club’s social medias, photograph events, flyer campus, and send out weekly newsletters. The Communications Sub-Board develops transferable skills in marketing and publicity, making it a great first-step for emerging communications professionals.

International Advocacy and Service

Girls Education Awareness, October 2024

The International Advocacy and Service (IAS) Sub-Board raises awareness for international issues and advocates for marginalized communities. The sub-board is divided into two parts: advocacy and philanthropy. The advocacy team plans speaker events, presentations, and roundtable discussions to increase awareness, while the philanthropy team leads fundraising initiatives to support a variety of international charity organizations.
