The 24-Hour Ad hoc General Assembly, NCSC LIII, November 2025
GIRA, Inc.
Conferences
The Georgetown International Relations Association, Inc. and the IRC collaborate to produce premier Model United Nations conferences in DC and around the world. IRC members are encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities to staff, network, and get creative in the IR world.
DC Conferences
The Georgetown International Relations Association (GIRA) has a long history of hosting outstanding Model United Nations (MUN) conferences. Since NAIMUN began in 1963 for high school delegates, GIRA’s slate of DC conferences has expanded to include opportunities for college students (NCSC) and middle schoolers (DistrictMUN) as well. NAIMUN and NCSC have found a home at the Washington Hilton, where all delegates and staff reside for the conference weekend. DistrictMUN is hosted on-campus, and delegates commute for the two-day conference. Georgetown students staff and lead all three conferences, making it possible to be involved with the IR community year-round.
High School
NAIMUN
The North American Invitational Model United Nations (NAIMUN) welcomes more than 3,300 delegates to the de facto national championship of the high school circuit. Over 270 staffers devise NAIMUN’s 41 committees, making NAIMUN the largest student-run MUN conference in the world. NAIMUN has a strong reputation both inside and outside of the MUN world for being a hub of debate in international and domestic politics alike.
College
NCSC
The National Collegiate Security Conference (NCSC) is the #1 fall-semester Model UN competition. NCSC stands out on the circuit for its commitment to modern, realistic, and security-focused committees. Many relate to embassies and institutions in DC. Staffing is a way to research and network issues at the cutting-edge of IR. Between speakers, excursions, and social programming, NCSC is an unforgettable experience in the heart of the nation’s capital.
Middle School
DistrictMUN
The District of Columbia Model United Nations (DistrictMUN) is a one-day conference hosted on the Hilltop campus for middle school delegates. Designed to be fun first and foremost, DistrictMUN strikes a balance between education and competition to serve as many delegates’ introduction to Model UN. For staffers, DistrictMUN is an opportunity to give back by training the next generation of MUN All-Stars.
GIRA partners with external organizations to support international affairs education worldwide. In 2025, GIRA Global initiatives have supported MUN conferences in China, Colombia, France, Ethiopia, and New York City. GIRA hires select Georgetown students to chair committees abroad, making GIRC-GIRA a genuinely international organization. Applications for GIRA Global conferences open at various points in the academic year, with an info session typically hosted at the start of the Fall semester.
