IRC Spring Formal 2012: Cherry Blossom Season

Saturday, March 31, 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM, Copley Formal Lounge
The IRC cordially invites you to its largest social event of the year. This black tie affair commemorating the centennial anniversary of the National Cherry Blossoms Festival serves as the highlight of the IRC’s social calendar and promises a delicious light dinner catered by Mai Thai. Mark your calendars and don’t miss out on the opportunity to break out those pastels!

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. They can be purchased in Red Square between 10 am and 4 pm. Starting next week, tickets will also be sold on Lau 2 from 8 pm to 12 am. Buy yours sooner than later, as spots fill up quickly!

Remember, attending the conference is MANDATORY for EVERYONE who wishes to be considered for the traveling team this semester, especially those who have:

A)       not yet traveled on a competitive Georgetown team

B)       not participated in a small-size crisis committee (i.e. have competed only in GAs and ECOSOCs)

February Cultural Dinner: Cafe Divan

Friday, February 24, 2012 at 6 pm. Meet at the Wisconsin Ave. GUTS bus stop (in front of Darnall).

Cafe Divan, an award winning Turkish restaurant located on 1834 Wisconsin Ave. NW, is the destination of this month’s cultural dinner. Come out to enjoy delicious Turkish food with other members of the IRC this Friday. We’ll be meeting at the Wisconsin Ave. GUTS bus stop at 6 pm. Space is limited so please RSVP.

As the culminating event for fall programming, the IRC 2011 Winter Reception is set to be the biggest gathering of the semester. Celebrate the last day of classes with the IRC at this semi-formal event highlighting an issue of international importance, the Turkey earthquakes. All proceeds from this year’s ticket sales will go to the Turkey Earthquake Relief Committee (TERC), a group that aids individuals in Turkey affected by the recent earthquakes.

Appetizers and Hors D’oeuvres will be catered by 1789.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased everyday until this Wednesday (12/07) in Red Square from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Ticket prices will increase to $25 at the door.

In celebration of the the holiday season, the IRC dedicates its last First Friday event of the fall semester to an Ugly Sweater Get Together. Dress in your most festive holiday attire and stop by Alumni Lounge to enjoy a selection of your favorite holiday treats from gingerbread cookies to eggnog to candy canes and hot chocolate.

Conferences Team Prepares for UPMUNC XLV

From December 1st to 4th, members from the Georgetown IRC Conferences Team will compete at the University of Pennsylvania Model United Nations Conference in Philadelphia, PA. UPMUNC is a relatively large and highly competitive conference with a blend of traditional non-crisis committees and smaller crisis committees. Delegates will be competing in a number of committees ranging from the World Health Organization to Mossad to a Pirates of the Caribbean crisis! If you have any questions on UPMUNC or how you can be involved in future conferences, please contact the Conferences Coordinator at js747@georgetown.edu.
