Georgetown Wins Outstanding Large Delegation at CMUNNY VI

On Thursday, October 6th, an IRC delegation representing Georgetown traveled to Manhattan to participate CMUNNY VI, a four-day Model United Nations conference hosted by Columbia University. Competing against many strong programs such as those of Harvard, University of Chicago, NYU, and University of Pennsylvania, the 16 Georgetown delegates debated valiantly and fared extremely well, taking home the “Outstanding Large Delegation Award” and a myriad of personal accolades. Staffing committees spanning the entire gamut of potential themes – with simulations of everything from the Supreme Court of the United States, to a convention of Pirates taking place in 1717, to the Central Tibetan Administration – the staff of Columbia’s International Relations Council worked tirelessly to improve upon the delegate experience of their fledgeling conference and provided all those who participated with a memorable and enlightening weekend.

Georgetown-GW Debate

On October 2nd, The Conference Team and their GW counterparts met for a practice conference at George Washington University. Participants from both schools gained valuable Model UN experience in a friendly and cooperative environment.

Conferences Team Prepares at AGMUNC I

On Saturday, September 17th, the Georgetown IRC Conferences Program hosted its annual All-Georgetown Model United Nations Conference I (AGMUNC). AGMUNC, which is held two to three times throughout the year, offers new members an opportunity to get familiar with MUN and hone their skills before the traveling season begins with SCSY and CMUNNY every year. This year’s AGMUNC I was a great success, running three simulations for various skill levels, a DISEC General Assembly, an ECOSOC, and an advanced joint-crisis committee dealing with the conflict in Aceh. Many thanks to Jag Singh and the members of C-Staff for another successful AGMUNC!
